What is a new 52-week low?
A close below every other close of the past 52 weeks, about 250 sessions. The list uses closing prices.
Is a stock at a 52-week low cheap?
Not on that alone. A stock at a new low is in a downtrend until it proves otherwise, and many keep falling. Stan Weinstein's rule was never to buy a stock in Stage 4: wait for a base and a move into Stage 2. Nothing here is investment advice.
What do new lows say about the market?
A rising count of new lows, especially among large companies, shows selling spreading through the market. When new lows outnumber new highs for days at a time, breadth is weak even if the index is holding up.
When does the list update?
After every US close. The nightly run starts at around 5:30 pm ET.
