Volume is the part of a move that is hard to fake. When a stock trades twice its usual amount, a large buyer or seller is usually behind it, and the volume often shows up before the reason does. This list keeps to stocks in a Stage 2 uptrend, so the volume arrives in a stock that is already trending up.

Every filter applied to build the list below, in order, to US stocks priced at $5 or more and trading at least $1 million a day on average. Nothing else is applied.

Questions
What counts as unusual volume?
Here, a session in which a stock trades at least twice its average daily volume over the past 50 sessions. Traders also call this ratio relative volume. The column shows it for each stock: 3.00x means three times the usual amount.
Why only stocks in an uptrend?
Heavy volume in a falling stock is usually selling, and a list that mixes the two is hard to read. Keeping to Stage 2 stocks shows where the volume meets a trend that is already up. The screener's volume filter covers the whole market.
Does unusual volume mean the price will rise?
No. It tells you something changed, such as earnings, news or a large holder moving, but not which way the price goes next. Check the day's move, the stage and the market before acting. Nothing here is investment advice.
When does the list update?
After every US close, on that day's full volume. The nightly run starts at around 5:30 pm ET.
