Low P/E stocks in an uptrend
A low P/E can mean a bargain or a business in trouble, and the chart often tells you which. This list keeps to profitable companies valued at 15 times earnings or less whose stock is in a Stage 2 uptrend, so the price is rising while the valuation is still low. Companies worth less than $1 billion are left out.

Every filter applied to build the list below, in order, to US stocks priced at $5 or more and trading at least $1 million a day on average. Nothing else is applied.

Each count is that rule applied on its own to the same set of stocks, so you can see which one is doing the work. The list below is the names that pass all of them.

A screen tells you a stock qualifies; it does not tell you whether the trend has proven itself or already run. That second question is the one we built the engine to answer.

Questions
What is a P/E ratio?
The share price divided by the company's earnings per share over the past twelve months. A P/E of 12 means investors pay $12 for each dollar of yearly earnings. A company with losses has no P/E and is not listed.
What counts as a low P/E?
There is no fixed line, and it varies by industry: banks, insurers and energy companies usually trade at lower multiples than software or health care. Fifteen is a common cutoff for value screens. A P/E in single digits often comes from a one-time gain, such as a tax benefit or an investment marked up in value, so check what drove the earnings before calling a stock cheap.
Why require an uptrend?
Many low P/E stocks are cheap for a reason and stay cheap. Requiring a Stage 2 uptrend keeps to the ones the market has started to buy. Nothing here is investment advice.
